VR music game Unplugged enters the stage on Oculus Quest

Rotterdam (NL), October 20, 2021 – Vertigo Games, the VR specialist publishing and development arm of the global Koch Media Group, and Anotherway, a VR development studio with roots at Microsoft Hololens and Activision, will release the critically acclaimed VR music game Unplugged on Oculus Quest tomorrow, with a PC VR* release on Steam to follow later this year (*Valve Index Controller compatible headsets only). The game already received very positive feedback from renowned VR specialists on its solid hand-tracking, rock and roll feel, and overall rock performance experience.

Accompanying the news, Vertigo Games released a mixed reality trailer that brings air guitar to life with a strong rock performance, just like players will experience in-game. Watch it here:

Ricardo Acosta, founder and creative director at Anotherway, saw his lockdown project from 2020 grow into a full rock and roll VR experience.

“Seeing the game shape itself into reality has been one of the greatest things in our lives. Unplugged started as a small passion project in the middle of the pandemic. It’s been a year and a half since we got the initial idea and in that time we got to work with dozens of extremely talented people and some of the world leading companies in tech, VR and music. It’s been a blast and we can’t wait to turn people’s living rooms into their own personal rock stage!”

Unplugged offers immersive air guitar play through the use of hand-tracking technology, world famous rock-songs, real-life guitar -and amplifier brands, and an experienced all-star rock team behind the game. At launch, the game has a setlist of over 20 songs, consisting of some of the biggest rock bands. There are six industry standard guitar and amplifier brands for rock and roll in Unplugged, Satchel from rock band Steel Panther functions as the player’s personal in-game mentor, and former Guitar Hero series lead guitarist -and game designer Marcus Henderson has helped lift the game to greater heights. All-in-all, Unplugged offers an authentic, exhilarating sense of rock-star realness.
